Beyond Kuta Matching: Deeper Poruttham Analysis for Marital Bliss

Hello everyone! I'm initiating a crucial discussion on marital compatibility, or Poruttham, in Tamil Jyotish. While the traditional 10 Kutas (Dina, Gana, Mahendra, Sthree Deergham, Yoni, Rasi, Rasyadhipathi, Vashya, Rajju, Vedha) provide a foundational framework, many seasoned astrologers emphasize that true marital harmony goes much deeper. What are your perspectives on conducting a more holistic Poruttham analysis?

Beyond the simple point system, how vital is the Lagnam (Ascendant) compatibility and the strength of the 7th house in both charts? Should we give more weight to the dispositor of the 7th lord, or the placement of Sukran (Venus) and Guru (Jupiter), the karakas for marriage and spouse respectively? I'm particularly interested in how we assess the Dasha Sandhi (junction of Dasha periods) between prospective partners, as this can often be a major point of friction or harmony.

Another significant factor is the analysis of Sevvai Dosham (Mangal Dosha). How do practitioners here truly evaluate its severity and suggest appropriate remedies or counter-conditions, rather than just outright rejecting a match based on its presence? What are the practical implications of a mild Sevvai Dosham being present in one chart but not the other, and how does it play out in married life?

Finally, I'd love to hear about techniques that go beyond Parashari principles, such as insights from Nadi Jyotish or KP Paddhati, in evaluating long-term marital success. What key indicators do you look for that might not be immediately apparent from the Kuta matching but are crucial for a strong, lasting bond? Your expert insights and case studies would be invaluable!

Great analysis! I completely agree that just Kuta matching is insufficient. The Lagnam and 7th house analysis is paramount. The karakas, Sukran and Guru, truly hold the key to understanding the depth of a relationship. It's refreshing to see such a detailed discussion on these aspects.

Expanding on the Nadi Jyotish perspective, beyond just Jeeva and Sareera Nadi compatibility, one key aspect in Nadi is the transit of Guru. Guru's transit through the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th houses from one's Chandra Rasi or Lagnam, coinciding with similar favorable transits in the partner's chart, is considered very auspicious for marital events and harmony. Similarly, the placement of Sukran as the Karaka for marriage and spouse, its strength and connections in the Nadi chart, offers immense insight into the quality of relationship and material comforts. The concept of planetary nodes (Jeeva and Sareera) linking the charts, indicating past life connections, also plays a significant role in Nadi readings for marital Poruttham, often providing a deeper spiritual context to the union rather than just a mundane matching.

From a KP Paddhati standpoint, the sub-lord of the 7th cusp is paramount. If it signifies houses 2 (family), 7 (partnership), and 11 (fulfillment of desires, gains from spouse), it promises a happy marriage. Conversely, if it signifies houses 1 (self, independence), 6 (arguments, litigation), 8 (obstacles, sudden events), or 12 (losses, separation), it indicates challenges. KP also meticulously examines the stellar and sub-level connections of the karakas for marriage (Sukran for males, Guru for females for Puthra Bhava but often both for general marital happiness) with houses 2, 7, 11 for a precise prediction of marital success and longevity. This often gives very precise timing and nature of events.
