Concerned about delayed marriage and potential Mangal Dosha in my chart

Hi all,

I'm reaching out because I'm getting quite worried about my marriage prospects. I'm 32 now, and despite many attempts, nothing seems to materialize on the marital front. My family is constantly pressuring me, and it's taking a toll. I suspect there might be some strong indications for delayed marriage in my Janma Kundali.

My birth details are: [DOB: XX/YY/ZZZZ, TOB: HH:MM AM/PM, Place: City, Country]. My Lagna is Rishabam (Taurus), and my 7th house (Kalatra Bhava) lord, Mangal (Mars), is placed in the 8th house in Dhanusu (Sagittarius). Guru (Jupiter), the significator of husband in a female chart, is in my 6th house in Thulam (Libra).

I've also been told by a local astrologer that I have Mangal Dosha (Sevvai Dosham) because Mars is in my 8th house from Lagna. Is this placement severe for Mangal Dosha, and could this be the primary reason for the delay? I'm trying to understand the nuances of this dosha and if it truly implies a very difficult marriage or extreme delay.

Could anyone provide an analysis of my 7th house and its lord, along with the positions of Venus (Shukra) and Jupiter, to see if there are other yogas contributing to this delay? What kind of remedies or pariharams would be advised for a strong Mangal Dosha, if it is indeed prominent in my chart, and for overcoming the overall delay in finding a suitable partner?

Vannakkam! I understand your concern, especially with the pressure building up. Let's look at your chart's indications. Your Lagna being Rishabam (Taurus) is significant. Mars (Mangal) as the 7th lord in the 8th house (Dhanusu) definitely points towards challenges in marital life. The 8th house is a Dusthana, indicating sudden events, transformations, and sometimes obstacles. A 7th lord placed here can delay marriage and bring complexities.

Regarding Mangal Dosha: Yes, Mars in the 8th house from Lagna is a classic placement for Sevvai Dosham. Its severity, however, depends on many other factors like aspects, conjunctions, and house lordship. For a Rishabam Lagna, Mangal rules both the 7th and 12th houses. While it owns the 7th (Kalatra Bhava), its rulership of the 12th house (loss, isolation) and placement in the 8th further complicates matters. It's crucial to check if there are any cancellation factors, such as Jupiter's (Guru's) strong aspect on Mars or the 7th house, or if Mars is in its own sign or exaltation, which is not the case here as it's in Dhanusu.

Guru in the 6th house (Thulam) is another point. The 6th house relates to debts, enemies, and challenges. While Jupiter is generally a benefic, its placement in a Dusthana can dilute its positive influence as a significator of husband for a female chart. Its aspect from the 6th house would fall on the 10th and 12th houses, and Lagna (Rishabam), which can offer some protection to your general well-being, but might not directly solve the marriage issue unless it also aspects the 7th house or its lord. A detailed analysis considering the strength and avasthas of all these planets, along with Dasha/Bhukti periods, would provide a clearer picture.

I can totally relate to your situation. My sister also had her 7th lord, Shukra, in the 8th house in her Kundali, along with a prominent Mangal Dosha from the 2nd house. She faced significant delays, and it was a very stressful time for her and our family. What we found was that it wasn't just the Mangal Dosha, but also a particularly challenging Sani Mahadasha that was running at the time.

We were advised to perform regular Shiva Pooja and chant the 'Mangala Stotram' every Tuesday. Also, visiting Navagraha temples, especially the Vaidheeswaran Koil for Sevvai, was very helpful. She finally got married when her Guru Dasha started and Guru was transiting auspiciously through her 7th house. Don't lose hope, these planetary positions indicate a need for specific upayas, but marriage will happen when the timing is right in the cosmic scheme.

Hi! I'm relatively new to Jyothisham, so forgive me if this is a basic question. You mentioned Mangal (Mars) as your 7th house lord in the 8th house. Does this specific combination also count as a 'Vipareeta Raja Yoga' since it's a Trikona lord (7th) in a Dusthana (8th)? Or is that only when a Dusthana lord is in another Dusthana? I'm trying to understand if there could be any hidden positives in this challenging placement. Also, what would be the impact if Guru (Jupiter) aspects your 7th house or Mangal from the 6th house?

While Mars in the 8th definitely constitutes Mangal Dosha, for Rishabam Lagna, it's not always as devastating as it might seem for some other Lagnas. Firstly, Mars is in Dhanusu (Sagittarius), which is a friendly sign ruled by Guru. This somewhat mitigates the malefic nature to an extent. Secondly, a strong Guru's aspect on Mars or the 7th house can effectively cancel out a significant portion of the Dosha. It's important to check the precise degree of Mars and Guru, and any other planetary aspects.

Moreover, the 7th lord in the 8th can indicate that the spouse might bring unexpected changes or financial shifts into your life, rather than outright marital discord. It can also point to a spouse who is involved in research, occult, or takes a long time to commit. Don't jump to conclusions about a very difficult marriage based solely on this; a deeper analysis of the Navamsa chart (D9) and the strength of Shukra is absolutely crucial here. Shukra's placement and strength is paramount for marital happiness and timing, and you haven't mentioned its position.

For overcoming strong Mangal Dosha and delays, consistent pariharams are key. I would highly recommend fasting or observing strict vegetarianism on Tuesdays. Chanting the 'Skanda Sashti Kavacham' or the 'Hanuman Chalisa' can be very potent, as both deities are strongly associated with Mars. Offering red flowers to Lord Muruga or Hanuman on Tuesdays is also considered beneficial.

If possible, consider visiting a specific temple dedicated to Mangal (Sevvai Graha). As mentioned, Vaidheeswaran Koil in Tamil Nadu is highly revered for Sevvai Dosham nivarana. Performing a 'Pooja' for Devi Parvati or Goddess Durga, especially during Rahu Kalam on Tuesdays or Fridays, can also strengthen your marital prospects by invoking feminine divine energy to balance the Martian energy. Consistency is more important than grand gestures here.

Beyond the Mangal Dosha, let's consider other factors. Guru in the 6th house (Thulam) can certainly play a role in delaying marriage, especially if it's afflicted or debilitated. While Guru is a benefic, its placement in a Dusthana (6th house) and in the sign of Thulam (Libra), a sign of balance and relationships, but also a Moolatrikona sign for Sani, might indicate that finding a partner requires more effort and overcoming specific challenges or 'shatrus' (obstacles, literal or figurative).

You mentioned Shukra (Venus) but not its placement. Shukra is the primary significator of marriage, relationships, and spouse in any chart, even more so for a female chart in some traditions, along with Guru. If Shukra is debilitated, retrograde, combust, or heavily afflicted by malefic planets (like Sani, Rahu, Kethu), it can severely delay marriage or bring dissatisfaction. Also, check for the placement and aspects of Sani (Saturn) on your 7th house or 7th lord, as Sani is the planet of delay and maturity. Strong Sani aspects often lead to late marriages, but also very stable ones.

I hear your concerns and the pressure must be immense. It's completely normal to feel worried in such situations. Just know that every chart has its unique strengths and challenges. Astrological insights are meant to guide us, not to scare us. Many people with similar planetary placements find wonderful partners, perhaps a little later in life, but often with deeper understanding and commitment. Stay positive and keep your faith. Remedies do work, but so does inner peace and patience.

While the static placements like Mangal in 8th and Guru in 6th are crucial, the dynamic influence of Dasha and Bhukti periods, along with current transits (Gochara), often hold the key to timing. Sometimes, a promising marriage yoga might be activated only during a specific Guru or Shukra Mahadasha or Antardasha. Or, a challenging placement like your Mangal Dosha might become more pronounced during a Mangal Dasha or Sani Dasha.

It would be very insightful to know your current Dasha period. For example, if you are running through a Rahu or Kethu Dasha, or a Dasha of a planet conjunct with Sani or aspecting the 7th house, it could explain the significant delays. Similarly, transiting Guru's movement through your 7th house or over your Lagna lord, and transiting Sani's aspects, can trigger events. A comprehensive analysis of your current planetary periods and major transits is highly recommended to pinpoint the most favorable period for marriage.

It's good that you're seeking to understand the nuances rather than just accepting a blanket statement about Dosha. Indeed, Mangal in the 8th from Lagna is a Mangal Dosha, and being the 7th lord in a Dusthana, it carries weight. However, as others have rightly pointed out, the chart must be read holistically. The strength of your Lagna lord (Shukra, being Rishabam Lagna), its placement, and aspects are very important. A well-placed and strong Shukra can mitigate many issues related to marriage.

Also, don't forget the importance of the Upapada Lagna and Dara Karaka (DK) in Jaimini astrology, which often offer additional perspectives on spouse and marriage timing. Sometimes, the solutions lie not just in traditional planetary remedies but in understanding the lessons these placements are trying to teach. Perhaps there's a need for self-reflection, personal growth, or career consolidation before the right partner enters your life. Consult with a seasoned astrologer who can look at the entire Janma Kundali, Navamsa, and all divisional charts (D-charts) to give you a complete picture and tailored pariharams, possibly involving specific deity worship or gem recommendations based on the Panchangam.
