Guru Dasha ending, feeling stuck - what to expect from Shani Antardasha?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in my Guru Mahadasha, but the Antardasha of Guru is just about to finish, and Shani Antardasha is starting in a couple of weeks. Honestly, the last few years have been quite mixed – some good periods, but mostly a feeling of stagnation, especially in my career. I'm working in IT, but feeling very unmotivated and wondering if a job change is possible or even advisable.

My Guru is in Dhanusu (Sagittarius) in the 10th house in my Lagna chart, which sounds good on paper for career, but maybe its combustion with Surya is weakening it? Shani is in Mithunam (Gemini) in my 4th house. I've always heard Shani Antardasha under Guru Mahadasha can be tough, bringing delays and responsibilities.

I'm looking for some insights from those who have experienced this particular Dasha Sandhi or combination. What kind of effects did you see? Should I brace myself for more delays and struggles, or can there be a silver lining? I'm hoping for some clarity on career progression or even a hint if it's a good time to pursue further education or a different path.

Any advice on potential upayas or remedies during this Shani period would also be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to put in the effort, but I just want to know what kind of energy I'm dealing with. Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

Namaste! Your observations about Guru's combustion are quite insightful. While Guru in Dhanusu (Sagittarius) in the 10th is inherently strong, its close proximity to Surya can indeed 'burn' away some of its worldly beneficence, sometimes leading to a disconnect between aspirations and tangible results, or a focus shift towards more spiritual/philosophical pursuits rather than pure material success in career. This can explain the feeling of stagnation, as Guru's expansive energy isn't fully manifesting in a conventional career path.

Now, Shani Antardasha under Guru Mahadasha is a crucial period. Shani, placed in Mithunam (Gemini) in your 4th house, aspects your 6th house (daily work, service, challenges), 10th house (career, public image), and your Lagna (self). This configuration is a strong indicator of significant career introspection and potential transformation. Shani's aspect on the 10th will scrutinize your professional life, demanding discipline, hard work, and often a re-evaluation of your goals. It doesn't necessarily mean struggle, but it certainly means *effort* and a slower pace. The 4th house placement for Shani also emphasizes education, home, and inner peace, suggesting that a move towards further studies or a career that provides more inner satisfaction could be beneficial and likely.

Regarding your question about job change or education: Shani in the 4th, aspecting the 10th, often pushes for career changes that bring more stability or align better with your long-term values, even if it involves a temporary step back or a period of learning. It’s a time to build strong foundations. So, yes, pursuing further education, especially something practical or skills-based, could be very well supported by this transit. Don't rush into decisions; Shani rewards patience and methodical planning. Look for Shani's dispositor and Navamsa placement for further clarity.

I went through a similar Guru-Shani Antardasha a few years back, and I can totally relate to the feeling of being stuck. My Guru was also strong but had some debilities, and Shani was aspecting my career house. Initially, it felt like everything was slowing down, and I too was in IT, feeling very unmotivated and questioning my path.

What I found was that while the initial phase brought delays and a lot of internal struggle, it actually forced me to look inwards. The 'stagnation' wasn't really stagnant; it was a period of slow, foundational building. I ended up taking a sabbatical to pursue a passion project, which felt like a massive risk at the time. Shani ensured I had to work twice as hard, face numerous obstacles, but the satisfaction and eventual growth were immense. It was Shani's way of refining my purpose.

So, yes, brace for effort and perhaps some tests of patience, but also look for the 'silver lining' in introspection and reassessment. Shani, the great karmic teacher, will make you earn your progress, but the rewards are lasting. Don't fear the delays; see them as opportunities for thorough planning and self-improvement. Good luck!

For remedies during this Shani period, there are several effective parigarams you can consider. Since Shani is a significator of discipline and service, acts of selfless service (seva) are highly recommended. Helping the elderly, those less fortunate, or volunteering your time can be very beneficial. Feeding crows or donating to an animal shelter on Saturdays is also a common and effective upay.

Mantras are powerful. Chanting the Shani Moola Mantra (Om Pram Preem Proum Sah Shanicharaya Namaha) or the Hanuman Chalisa regularly, especially on Saturdays, can help alleviate malefic effects. Visiting a Navagraha temple, specifically the Shani Sannidhi, is excellent. If possible, a visit to Tirunallar or any prominent Shani sthalam can be very potent. Offering sesame oil (til oil) and black urad dal to Shani Bhagavan on Saturdays is also a traditional remedy. Avoid starting new ventures during Rahu Kalam on Saturdays if you can, and always check the Panchangam for auspicious timings before making big decisions.

Hey there, I'm just starting to learn about Jyothisham, but I wanted to offer some support. That feeling of stagnation and questioning career is so real! It sounds like a lot of us go through it.

I'm curious, what's your Lagna (ascendant) sign? And have you looked at the strength of your Shani in Vargas, like the Dashamsha chart (D10) for career? Maybe that could give more clues. Keep us updated!

Excellent analysis of your chart position, particularly noting Guru's combustion. While Guru in its own sign in the 10th (Dhanusu) is a powerful placement for career and dharma, combustion with Surya can indeed shift its energy. It can make one feel unfulfilled by conventional success, pushing towards a quest for deeper meaning or knowledge within their profession, sometimes leading to a feeling of being 'above' the fray or disillusioned with material gains alone. This sets the stage for Shani's entry.

Shani in Mithunam in the 4th house is very significant for your query. The 4th house rules home, education, inner peace, and foundations. Shani's presence here indicates a need to build a solid, perhaps conventional, foundation. Its 3rd aspect falls on the 6th house (daily work, service, obstacles), its 7th aspect directly on your 10th house (career, karma sthana), and its 10th aspect on your Lagna (self, overall well-being). This complex interplay means Shani will be intensely scrutinizing your daily work, your career path, and your very sense of self.

The feeling of needing a job change or pursuing further education is perfectly aligned with this transit. Shani's aspect on the 10th will bring responsibilities and potential challenges in your career, compelling you to work harder and more systematically. It often brings changes that, while difficult, lead to greater long-term stability and authenticity. The 4th house placement also strongly supports further education, especially if it's practical, skill-enhancing, or aligns with a more stable future. Shani will push you towards a path of endurance and discipline. Embrace the hard work; it will pay off, though perhaps not immediately.

Oh, the Guru-Shani Sandhi is no joke! My experience was also one of significant restructuring, especially with career. My Guru was also strong but in a difficult house, and when Shani Antardasha started, it felt like hitting a brick wall. I literally lost my job shortly after it began, which led to a prolonged period of uncertainty and financial strain.

It wasn't easy, but looking back, Shani was completely clearing out what was not meant for me. It forced me to re-skill, network extensively, and truly understand what I valued in a career. The delays were maddening at the time, but they were essential for me to build a more resilient foundation. So, yes, brace for potential delays and heightened responsibilities, but also know that Shani is a fair judge and will reward your sincere efforts and perseverance. It's a period of deep learning and karmic adjustment.

Greetings, fellow traveler on the path of Jyothisha. The transition from Guru to Shani Antardasha, especially with your Guru's combustion, suggests a pivotal shift in focus. Guru expands and offers wisdom, but when combust, its worldly expression can be muted, pushing one towards internal, rather than external, growth. This 'stagnation' might be Guru's way of preparing you for Shani's exacting lessons.

Shani, the great dispenser of karma and the ultimate teacher, in your 4th house of Sukha (comfort), education, and inner peace, and aspecting your 10th house, is asking profound questions about the roots of your contentment and your sense of purpose. This period isn't about rapid advancement or easy gains; it's about discipline, responsibility, and building a solid, unshakeable foundation for your future, both professional and personal. The universe is likely urging you to align your career with your deepest values, even if it feels challenging or requires a complete overhaul.

Embrace the opportunities for introspection and honest self-assessment that Shani brings. It's a time to work diligently, accept your duties, and cultivate patience. The 'silver lining' often appears after the hard work is done, as Shani bestows lasting results to those who persevere with integrity. Consider selfless service and mindfulness as key upayas during this transformative phase.

Totally get that feeling! Guru-Shani can feel like applying brakes after acceleration, especially when you're used to Guru's expansive energy. Don't panic about the job change yet. Shani can bring delays but also the fortitude to endure and make the right, long-term decisions.

Focus on consistency and discipline in whatever you do, even small tasks. Simple Shani pariharams like feeding crows or helping elders can also bring some relief and positive energy. All the best!
