Experiencing Ashtama Shani right now, feeling overwhelmed. Any tips?

Vanakkam JyotishVidya community,

I'm going through a particularly challenging phase right now, and my astrologer confirmed it's my Ashtama Shani period. My Chandra Rasi is Simham (Leo), and Shani is currently transiting Kumbam (Aquarius), which is the 7th from my Chandra, not 8th. Sorry, my astrologer said it's related to the 8th house in my natal chart, not Ashtama Shani from Chandra. My bad, I got confused. It's actually Sade Sati for Simha Rasi, where Shani is transiting the 6th, 7th, and 8th from Moon. So, Kumbam is 7th from Simham. I'm in the second phase of Sade Sati, and it's hitting me hard.

Mentally, I'm exhausted. I've been feeling very low, lots of anxiety, and a general sense of gloom. Health-wise, I've had some recurring issues with my digestion and inexplicable body pains. Financially, it's been a struggle too, with unexpected expenses piling up.

I know Sade Sati is known for its karmic lessons, but I feel like I'm drowning. Has anyone else with Simham Rasi experienced the second phase of Sade Sati and can share their insights on how they navigated it? What kind of parigarams or spiritual practices helped you?

I've been trying to do some Shani homams and lighting lamps with til oil on Saturdays, but sometimes I just feel like it's not enough. Is there anything else I should be doing? I'm open to all suggestions and personal experiences. Just need some hope to get through this difficult Gochara period.

Vanakkam! Your experience perfectly encapsulates the intense energy of the second phase of Sade Sati for Simham Rasi, with Shani transiting Kumbham (7th from your Chandra Rasi). This period is profoundly transformative and often tests the native's core resilience. While the immediate focus is on 7th house matters – partnerships, relationships, and public image – Shani's aspects are equally crucial. From Kumbham, Shani casts its powerful 3rd aspect on Mesham (9th house, impacting Dharma, father, higher learning, and fortune), its 7th aspect directly on Simham (1st house, affecting your self, vitality, confidence, and physical body), and its 10th aspect on Vrischikam (4th house, influencing home, mother, emotional peace, and property). This combination readily explains the mental exhaustion, anxiety, and general gloom you're feeling, as multiple core areas of your life are under Shani's disciplined gaze.

Moreover, for Simham Rasi natives, Shani rules the 6th and 7th houses. Its transit through its own 7th sign (Kumbham) can amplify the karmic lessons associated with these portfolios. The 6th house governs health, debts, enemies, and daily struggles, while the 7th deals with marriage, business partners, and legal matters. Your digestive issues and body pains are classic manifestations of 6th house afflictions, exacerbated by Shani's influence. Financially, unexpected expenses and struggles (often linked to 6th house matters or partnership challenges) are also very common.

This entire period is a rigorous karmic cleanser. Shani demands discipline, detachment, integrity, and an honest evaluation of your relationships and life's direction. The challenges, though arduous, are designed to make you stronger and more grounded. Focus on selfless service (Seva), maintaining truthfulness in all dealings, and cultivating immense patience. Trust the process; Shani Bhagavan ultimately rewards those who persevere with sincerity and righteousness, building a foundation for lasting stability.

Oh, my dear friend, I completely resonate with your struggles! I'm also a Simham Rasi native, and my second phase of Sade Sati, with Sani in Kumbham, felt like an endless gauntlet. The mental anguish was so real – constant low mood, anxiety, and a feeling of being utterly overwhelmed. Health-wise, I had a persistent lower back issue and a general lack of energy, plus a sensitive stomach. And yes, the financial drain was constant with unexpected bills popping up everywhere!

What truly helped me was a combination of practices. Firstly, I embraced detachment. It sounds simple, but consciously telling myself, 'This too shall pass, these are just karmic lessons,' helped me navigate the emotional turbulence. I started visiting a nearby Siva Temple every Monday and Saturday, offering Bilva leaves and lighting a ghee lamp. Chanting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra daily, even just 11 times, brought a profound sense of peace and protection. I also made it a point to donate black sesame seeds (til) and mustard oil to the needy on Saturdays, especially during Rahu Kalam.

Don't lose heart with your homams and lamps – every effort counts! Remember, Sani is a tough but fair teacher. He will make you face your weaknesses but will ultimately empower you with immense strength and wisdom. Keep up your spiritual practices, and perhaps consider incorporating a short period of meditation or mindful breathing into your daily routine. This too shall pass, leaving you more resilient than ever.

Vanakkam! I'm so sorry to hear you're going through such a challenging time. Sade Sati is indeed known for its intensity, and your experiences sound very typical of its second phase. It takes immense strength to navigate it, and your efforts with Shani homams and til oil lamps are commendable.

Just to clarify for beginners like myself, you initially mentioned Ashtama Shani, then corrected it to Sade Sati for Simham Rasi, with Shani in Kumbam (7th from Chandra). Could you briefly explain the core difference between Ashtama Shani and Sade Sati from a basic perspective? I sometimes get these terms mixed up, and your post highlights the confusion. Understanding this might help many others in the community too. Wishing you continued strength and peace as you move through this difficult Gochara period!

Namaste. While Chandra Gochara, particularly Sade Sati, undoubtedly impacts our mental and emotional state, I'd respectfully suggest also giving significant weight to your Lagna chart and the strength and placement of your natal Shani. For a Simham Rasi native, Shani in Kumbham (7th from Moon) signifies a direct confrontation with karmas related to partnerships and self. However, if your Lagna happens to be, say, Mithuna or Kanya, and your natal Shani is well-placed and strong (e.g., exalted or in its own sign or friendly sign), the intensity of Sade Sati might be mitigated to some extent, or the challenges might manifest differently, perhaps even bringing positive shifts in business partnerships or public recognition after initial struggles.

The transit of Shani over the 7th house, while capable of bringing relationship strain or health issues related to the lower abdomen, can also be a period where existing partnerships are rigorously tested and solidified, or new, significant ones are formed that are built on a strong, realistic foundation. Have you also thoroughly examined your Vimshottari Dasha period and Antardashas? Sometimes, the Dasha lord can either amplify or soften the effects of the Gochara. It's crucial to look at the holistic picture rather than just isolating the Sade Sati. Shani's retrogression periods during this transit can also bring back past issues for re-evaluation and resolution. Understanding the full planetary picture can sometimes offer different strategies for coping.

My heart goes out to you. This second phase of Sade Sati for Simham Rasi with Sani in Kumbham is truly a period of profound cleansing. Beyond the excellent parigarams you're already performing, I strongly recommend focusing on devotion and specific offerings. If feasible, a visit to the famous Thirunallar Sani Bhagavan Temple in Karaikal is highly auspicious and can offer immense relief. Even if a physical visit isn't possible, keeping an idol or picture of Sani Bhagavan and worshipping him with sincerity can be powerful.

Regular chanting of the 'Shani Gayatri Mantra' (Om Kaakadhwajaaya Vidmahae Khadga Hasthaaya Dheemahi Tanno Mandah Prachodayaat) 108 times daily can be very effective in pacifying Shani. Additionally, consider donating black items like blankets, shoes, or food (especially black urad dal or cooked rice with black sesame) to the needy and elderly on Saturdays. Lighting a lamp with til oil under a Peepal (Aswatha) tree on Saturdays before sunset is another potent Upaya. Checking your local Panchangam for the exact Rahu Kalam on Saturdays and avoiding important decisions during that time can also be beneficial. Remember, Sani is the karaka for selfless service, so any act of kindness or charity performed with a pure heart goes a long way in appeasing him.

Hang in there! I'm not Simham Rasi, but I've heard so many similar stories about the second phase of Sade Sati. The feelings of being overwhelmed, the health issues, and financial struggles are very common themes reported during this specific transit. You are absolutely not alone in experiencing this.

Your efforts with Shani homams and lighting til oil lamps are commendable and certainly creating positive energy. Even when it feels like it's not enough, consistent spiritual practice builds inner strength and fortitude. Keep up your faith and determination. Wishing you immense strength and peace to navigate through this challenging period!

Your description is a textbook manifestation of Shani's influence during the second phase of Sade Sati for Simham Rasi. Shani transiting Kumbham, the 7th house from your Chandra Rasi, brings a direct confrontation with relationship dynamics, public image, and legal matters. However, for a Simham native, Shani also holds significant lordship. Shani is the natural lord of the 6th house (diseases, debts, enemies, service) and the 7th house (partnerships, marriage, trade). Its transit through its own sign in the 7th from your Moon intensifies the lessons of both houses.

The physical ailments you mention, particularly digestion and body pains, are a direct echo of Shani's lordship over the 6th house. Shani here asks for discipline in health, diet, and managing daily responsibilities. The financial struggles and unexpected expenses are also classic 6th house manifestations, often compounded by 7th house relationship strains or business challenges. Furthermore, Shani's direct 7th aspect on your Simham Rasi (Moon) impacts your emotional well-being, self-confidence, and general outlook, explaining the mental exhaustion and gloom.

The key to navigating this intense period is to embrace Shani's principles: discipline, detachment, patience, and selfless service. Address 6th house matters proactively – seek medical advice for health, manage finances diligently, and resolve conflicts ethically. In 7th house affairs, practice clear communication and integrity. This transit, though arduous, is a profound soul-refining process. It will strip away illusions and prepare you for a more stable, grounded, and mature future.
