Is there really a foreign settlement yoga in my chart? Feeling stuck.

Hi all,

I've always dreamt of settling abroad, and a few astrologers have told me I have strong 'Videsh Yatra' or foreign settlement yogas in my chart. However, despite multiple attempts, including visa applications and job offers, nothing has materialized. I feel incredibly stuck and disheartened. I want to understand if these yogas are truly present and when they might fructify.

My birth details are: [Date], [Time], [Place]. My Lagna is Kanya. Rahu is placed in the 12th house in Simham, and Ketu is in the 6th house in Kumbham. Jupiter (Guru) is in the 9th house in Rishabam. The 4th house lord, Jupiter, also aspects the 12th house. Some have pointed to the strong 12th house Rahu and Jupiter's placement as key indicators for foreign settlement.

I'm currently in my Budha Mahadasha, with Sukra Antardasha running. I was told that Budha, being the Lagna Lord and also aspecting the 12th, would support foreign travel, but I haven't seen much progress. Could it be that the timing (Dasha Bhukti) is not right, or am I misinterpreting the strength of these yogas?

I'm curious about how Nadi Jyotish or even KP system might interpret these planetary positions compared to traditional Parashari. Have any of you seen similar charts where foreign settlement was delayed despite strong indicators? Are there specific Muhurthams I should look for when applying for visas or jobs abroad, or any specific Upayas for a smoother process? Any guidance on understanding this would be highly valued.

Namaste! I understand your frustration. A strong 12th house Rahu in Simham is indeed a significant indicator for foreign settlement (Videsh Sthanam). Rahu naturally amplifies and seeks experiences related to the house it occupies, and the 12th house explicitly deals with foreign lands, expenses, and isolation. Its dispositor, the Sun, if well-placed and strong, can facilitate this. Your Guru (Jupiter) as the 4th lord in the 9th house (Rishabam) further strengthens this. The 9th house signifies long journeys, fortune, and dharma. Guru's aspect on the 12th house directly connects your homeland (4th lord) with foreign lands (12th house) through fortune (9th house).

However, the timing is crucial. You're in Budha Mahadasha, Sukra Antardasha. Budha, as your Lagna Lord and also the 10th lord for Kanya, is powerful. It aspects the 12th house from your Lagna, indicating communication and intellect being directed towards foreign matters. Sukra (Venus) is a karaka for comforts and relocation. The combination should ideally support foreign travel. It's possible that the current Bhukti Lord, Sukra, might be weak or afflicted in the D-9 or D-4 charts, which govern marriage/partnerships and property/home respectively, indirectly impacting settlement. Also, check for any malefic aspects on Budha or Sukra in the divisional charts, especially the D-12 (Dwadasamsha) which is often consulted for foreign travel.

Sometimes, even with strong yogas, the full fructification requires specific planetary transits to align with your Dasha Bhukti. Keep an eye on Guru and Sani transits, especially when Guru transits through your 9th, 12th, or 1st house, or Sani transits through your 12th or 1st house. The yoga is definitely present; it's just about the right astrological window opening up.

I totally get you! In my own chart, I have a powerful 9th lord in the 12th with a strong Rahu aspect, a classic Videsh Yogam. But my dream of moving abroad only materialized much later than anticipated. It was during my Sani Mahadasha, specifically in Shani-Budha period, that things finally clicked. For years, during my Guru Mahadasha, despite many trips, permanent settlement remained elusive.

Sani, being a karaka for delay but also for karma and foreign lands (if connected to the 12th), perhaps needed to run its course. Sometimes, the yoga is present, but the planets need to mature, or a specific Dasha Sandhi might be required to push it through. Don't lose hope, the planets will align when the time is right!

While Rahu in the 12th and Jupiter's aspect are indeed classic indicators for Videsh Yatra, we must also look at the overall strength of your chart concerning stability in your homeland. Is your 4th house strong? The 4th lord, Guru, is in the 9th, which supports long journeys, but being the 4th lord, it also signifies home. Its aspect on the 12th is key, but perhaps Guru's placement in Rishabam (a fixed earth sign) might inherently bring some inertia or delay to physical relocation despite the strong desire.

It could be that the chart initially blesses you with travel, but settling becomes a challenge due to other compensatory factors maintaining roots. Also, check the placement and strength of the 3rd and 7th lords, as they can indicate courage for change and partnerships abroad respectively. Sometimes, too many strong ties to the homeland, even if subtly present, can delay foreign settlement despite strong Videsh yogas.

My friend, don't lose heart! The planetary positions are clear, but sometimes planetary karmas need to be appeased. For a strong Rahu in Simham in the 12th, regular chanting of the Rahu Gayatri mantra or 'Om Ram Rahave Namaha' 108 times daily can be very beneficial. Visiting Navagraha Sthalam, especially the Rahu Sthalam (Thirunageswaram) or Guru Sthalam (Alangudi) in Tamil Nadu, if possible, can bring significant relief.

Offering prayers to Lord Shiva, who controls Rahu, is also potent. Consider wearing a Gomedh (Hessonite Garnet) after proper astrological consultation, only if Rahu is benefic and well-placed, which for 12th house Rahu, might need careful consideration. Simpler Upayas like feeding birds or helping the less fortunate can also strengthen your benefics and soothe malefics. Consistent effort with these Upayas will surely yield results.

It's fascinating how different systems interpret similar placements! From a KP perspective, we'd look closely at the sub-lord of your 12th cusp. If the 12th cusp sub-lord signifies houses like 3, 9, or 12, it strongly indicates foreign travel. If it also connects to 4 or 10, it complicates settlement. Specifically for Videsh Sthanam, the sub-lord should strongly indicate 3, 9, 12 and not strongly indicate 4 or 10. Your Rahu in 12th in Simham is key, but its sub-lord's connection to 3/9/12 would be paramount.

In Nadi Jyothisham, Rahu being a karaka for foreign lands in the 12th is a direct connection. However, Nadi also emphasizes planetary conjunctions and aspects from a different lens (e.g., Guru-Shukra conjunction/aspects for wealth abroad). They might look at the Bhrigu Bindu or specific Nadi principles related to Venus and Jupiter for settlement. Perhaps the timing (Dasha Bhukti) is indeed the key, as each system has its unique way of pinpointing activation periods, and sometimes Parashari yogas are activated by KP sub-periods or Nadi's direct karakatwas later in life.

This is a really interesting thread! I'm still learning, but I'm trying to understand the nuances. When you say Jupiter is your 4th house lord, which house is your 4th house for Kanya Lagna? And since Rahu is in Simham in the 12th, does that mean Sun is his dispositor? How strong is the Sun in your chart? I'm trying to connect the dots between the lords and their strength for foreign travel.

Also, what about Saturn (Sani)? Is Shani connected to your 12th house in any way? Sometimes I hear Sani can also signify foreign lands and delays, and with Rahu there, it might intensify things. Any insights on Sani's role would be helpful for us beginners!

Oh, this sounds so familiar! I too had strong Videsh Yatra yogas and felt incredibly stuck for years. My Shani Mahadasha was just beginning, and everyone said it would be the time, but the first few Antardashas were just a struggle. Don't lose hope; sometimes the fructification is simply delayed. Keep up with your efforts and stay positive. The right timing will surely come, often when you least expect it!

For applications, be very mindful of Muhurtham. Avoid submitting crucial documents or attending interviews during Rahu Kalam, which is generally considered inauspicious for new beginnings or important actions. Check your local Panchangam for suitable tithis and nakshatras. For foreign travel or visa applications, choosing a day ruled by a movable nakshatra like Punarvasu, Swati, Shravana, Dhanistha, Satabhisha, or Purva Bhadrapada can be beneficial.

Also, ensure the Moon is well-placed and not in an 8th house transit from your natal Moon for important events. Activating your Lagna lord Budha during its hora can also add strength to your actions. A small homam or special puja to Rahu during a favorable Muhurtham might also help clear the path. These subtle timing aspects can sometimes make a big difference when the main planetary periods are already supportive.
